University of Mpumalanga
Full Institutional Strategic Plan delivered to the Vice-Chancellor
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mpumalanga needed a complete 5-year strategic plan aligned with DHET requirements. The plan had to cover five core areas: teaching & learning, research, student success, social engagement, and institutional sustainability.
The university was at a critical juncture in its development. The existing plan was nearing its end, and leadership recognised the need for a fresh, forward-looking strategy that would guide the institution through its next phase of growth. Key challenges included aligning diverse stakeholder expectations, meeting stringent DHET compliance standards, and creating a practical roadmap that faculties could actually implement.
Gosiame Consulting delivered a full strategic planning engagement that included:
- Comprehensive situational analysis (SWOT and PESTEL-SA frameworks)
- Stakeholder engagement across all faculties and administrative units
- Development of 5 strategic pillars with clear strategic objectives
- KPI framework with leading and lagging indicators
- Detailed implementation roadmap with phased milestones
- Council-ready documentation and presentation materials
The process was designed to be collaborative, ensuring buy-in from all key stakeholders while maintaining rigorous strategic alignment with DHET requirements.
A comprehensive 5-year strategic plan was successfully completed and formally adopted by the University Council. The VC completed her tenure with a clear, actionable roadmap for the university's future.
“Working with Gosiame Consulting brought clarity and structure to our strategic planning process. The modular approach allowed us to focus on what mattered most.”
